The NFPA certification myth

The NFPA writes and publishes standards. It does not certify, license, accredit or approve hood cleaning companies. There is no such thing as an NFPA 96 certified cleaning contractor, and a company advertising itself that way is either confused about what the NFPA does or hoping you are.

How long should I keep the certificates?

Does a suppression system inspection cover the cleaning?
No, and the two are frequently confused. A suppression contractor inspects, tests and recharges the fire suppression equipment. Exhaust cleaning removes the fuel that suppression exists to fight. Both are needed, they are separate trades, and a suppression report is not evidence that the system was cleaned.
